Yeah I know Indians (like from Kashmir or Himachal Pradesh) who have red hair and blue eyes, so I'm sure it's not an ENTIRELY unheard of thing. But is there really so much wank about the casting of this one character? I thought it was the trend that made people really angry

Speaking purely for myself, it's the casting of all white heroes in an adaptation of a story where many of the original characters were dark skinned, and/or from Asian and Inuit inspired cultures, in the historical and cultural context of whitewashing and under representation of people of color that upsets me.

tl:dr -- If Katara had been brown, I don't think people would have been too upset if Suki had been white.
