So, if someone wants to snark about an author in an extremely small fandom they should list it so everyone knows exactly who they're talking about?
If the fandom is pertinent, it'll be listed. If a certain amount of ambiguity can be maintained, it should be.

Not giving the fandom because it's not relevant and not giving it because it's a potentially harmful piece of information are two different things. If it's the first, given that the default seems to be curiosity--I don't only care about the information that's strictly relevant--why not mention it as a postscript? Or, if it's important to you that it be nonspecific, attach a "specific fandom is irrelevant" postscript? And if it's the latter, a "fandom irrelevant" or "mentioning fandom would stir up drama" might help.

I don't think it's fair or helpful to get mad at people for being curious.

Yeah, random anon basically said everything I was going to say. If the fandom actually doesn't matter then you should be able to list it. And if it actually does (to you), then don't list it, and just deal with the consequences because it's actually not that big of a deal.
