It's not "people" that I'm worried about, it's my fandom friends who are sticking their ground who will feel like I've abandoned them.

The main community is currently under lock and closed membership. The troll concentrates on public journals and anon memes.

I'd advise taking a break. I let wank from two or three of my fandoms bleed into each other and and eventually became pretty wanky myself for various reasons. It wasn't pretty. Wank can be incredibly contagious. You don't want that to happen. Trust me.

I think you need a break from the old fandom at the very least. Perhaps become a part of the new fandom a little while alone too, but tell your fandom friends that you still want to talk and hang with them, but you need a break right now at least to sort things out for yourself. Maybe even introduce them to this new fandom- you probably share similar interests on some level, right? Of course I don't know them and you do.

Maybe later you can come back to the old fandom. Or not. It's your choice in the end. As an earlier poster said fandom should be FUN anyway. It's not supossed to be all SRS BUSINESS all the time.

But why not drive out the trolls? Just don't respond or give them a reaction. Or are they the majority and too difficult to ignore? Set up your own community maybe or someone you trust can do it. Advertise on the public community about it, but have a closed membership where only those approved can join, so you can hopefully be careful about who you let in.
