Don't really agree, but I could probably rant your ears off about everything they GOT WRONG.

(In cases you're wondering, Chekov should have been thirteen in 2258, not seventeen. Damn writers didn't even check their math. And that's not even the worst mistake.)

They did check. They said afterwards that things that happened after Nero and the Kelvin, the universe tweaked things in order make the crew get together earlier. One of those tweakings was Uhura and Chekov being born earlier.

How about why nu!Spock is two years older than TOS Spock, then?

Where is he listed as being older? My understanding is that he is the same age. I have a Time line comparision of reboot and prime here (http://nikki4noo.livejournal.com/32404.html). In all the research I did for that, Spock's birth was the same.

Memory Beta. Not official canon, I know, but if they can justify Uhura/Chekov's ages off-screen and it still counts, I consider Beta fair game for this one.

(On the subject, though, I've seen your timeline and analysis, and consider them awesome and acceptable. For the most part, I ignore what I consider errors when writing fic, and just roll with the movie.)

Thank you for your lovely words about the timeline. I did it to try and get things sorted in my own head for my own writing and thought it might be helpful to others. I do love to meta a little bit ;)

Ahh Memory Beta has stuffed up. Alpha lists nu!Spock as having the same birth date which would have been taken from all the movie canon etc. I have no idea where beta got it from but they are wrong and does not conform to anything from the movies or otherwise that I am aware. I do use Beta a little bit to add in more fun stuff from the novels and such, but it is a bit that I can take it or leave it from that information. Quasi-canon I reckon it can be considered as.

Well, the 2230 year also comes from a deleted scene (2230.06?) and nobody mentioned it was an error, so I really have no idea. Probably an inconsistency that I should just ignore at this point.

Personally, I use Beta for things that are never mentioned or could never be reasonably mentioned in the actual context of an episode, like the proper name for Spock's instrument, for instance (just slide that into a normal mission briefing.)

Also, having merrily roamed around your journal, I realize I should probably actually read some of your fic. :)

Yeah I would put it at an inconsistency and hand wave it away. The STXI website had his correct birthdate listed, so I think it would probably been picked up and been corrected. Well I hope so anyway ;)

Same thing I use beta for. Like McCoy's mother's name and Jocelyn's nickname. It's great for little things to add in that make a story or a character more realised.

Oh, I hope you like them, I am a little fond of comments I should warn you and appreciate and snuggle them close at night. Was that a subtle way of saying I am a comment whore? :D
