He always ruins it! I gotta admit, I agree with Mercedes that it's kinda (kinda, mind you), an act. I would love to see more of his backstory, as long as they don't make him a woobie.

Yeah there probably is something behind it. But then again just for once I'd like to see a guy who's an asshole just because he likes being an asshole, and not because there's some deep dark secret and he's trying to hide his vulnerability or something.

Yeah, but Glee is about being happy (I think Ryan Murphy even says that), so I don't think he can make a character irreversibly unlikeable with no chance of redemption. But yeah, I totally agree. Some people in like are just jerks.

Yeah, and I like that Glee is about being happy, so it's definitely not the right show for an irredeemable jerk, but I'd like to see more of them in general, instead of the badboy with the secret heart of gold lol

I agree. I also think it's not just Glee, either. A lot of shows where the villain/person who is mean is a big character feel the need to give backstory that makes you sympathize, more than you originally would. I understand why they do, but yeah. I like villainous villains and sometimes the best villains are the one who do what they do because they can.

Yeah, or if the show makes the person a really evil villian like ...well I was going to say Sylar but he kind of went back and forth later, okay old school Sylar then - the fandom tries to make him all sensitive and writes fluff and I'm like alkdjflasdjfa Sylar is not fluffy! Stop it! I don't understand this wanting to make everyone fluffy thing *g*

It's like every fandom has people who nicefy the evil. I know there's some psychological reason but I would like to know what it is.

I think it's like a combination of them wanting to believe everyone is sweet and fluffy inside and the 'women wanting to fix men' stereotype, neither of which I understand myself but I guess it's a rather popular mindset *g*

That's probably it, but it makes me want to be an armchair psychologist. Why do people want everyone to be good? The stereotype I understand, but the need to have a deep gooey goodness inside everyone is just confusing.

haha maybe because they're all gooey inside and want the characters they like to be the same way? I honestly have no idea, because if it was that then I would think they'd just like other characters *scratches head* Oh well, I will just stick with liking the evil guys for being evil! More evilness for me!

I will split the evilness with you. All the nice people can go to a fictional island (which is what will happen when the evil ones take over the world).
