Holy crap a The Last Unicorn secret :O I recently re-watched it and it actually was as good as I remember it being when I was a little kid. That doesn't happen often with movies.

I think I sympathize with Molly in this scene more than anyone else in any film, ever. It's totally what I'm going to say if any supposed figment of my imagination ever shows up IRL.

I recently had the depressing realization that I'm a genderfucked version of Molly Grue. You ain't the only one, anon.

As a child, I didn't even notice that line. Now just thinking about it makes me tear up.

This is one o f the sweetest, saddest, and most well-said secrets I've seen here.

I'm relatively young and I feel for Molly in that scene. Both for the book and movie. (READ THE BOOK it's better than the movie, although the movie's good.) And like her, even if I was 90 and a unicorn came to me, I would end up being relieved that one came at all.

I read the book. It's one of the few where I like the movie better.

I agree that the book is better than the movie, although both are fantastic.

The book and the movie are damn near identical, considering that the author wrote the screenplay.

Just looking at the secret made me tear up terribly.

That scene always makes me tear up. When I was little it was because I was sad Molly had to wait so long. Now I'm older and I have been through some things, part of me is still sad, but I'm also happy that she got to see her Unicorn.

If I live to be 100 I'll keep looking, I should probably be more embarrassed about that than I am.

I totally get her (and named one of my cats after her) but I knew I was getting old when I started sympathizing with King Haggard.

Peter Beagle's grasp on human nature fills me with readerly awe and writerly despair. I mean, he wrote A Fine and Private Place when he was fucking nineteen years old.

THIS anon. And it breaks my heart to be able to relate.

All I ever wanted to be in that movie was Amathea, but in the end I ended up like Molly Grue. Which means I get Smenderik! Score!

It took me til I was 17 and had re-watched the movie to figure out what she was so angry about. When I did I cried.

That scene makes me cry every time. Not just because I understand her anger, but also because it gives me a little bit of hope.

God, I haven't even thought about that scene in years, but now that I have, I know exactly what you mean. How unsettling.

I don't remember this particular scene, but I loved this movie when I was younger. Thank you for making this secret and reminding me to watch it again :)
