It's not one of my favorites but I don't feel like people who love it are "Doing It Wrong". I actually find some of the most so-called important episodes to be somewhat boring myself (especially the so-called "pivotal ones from Book 3) while episodes like Sokka's Master, The Runaway, The Fortuneteller, and The King of Omashu are some of my absolute favorites (loves Avatar Day).

That's not doing it wrong at all. I love the overall plot arc, but when it comes to individual episodes it's the silly ones I like most, even if they don't advance the plot much. I think my fav is the one where Aang throws a dance party for the fire nation kids.

What? Are you kidding? This is totally my favorite episode! It's so funny. I actually prefer a lot of their more humorous episodes to the more serious ones, either because they take themselves a little too seriously, or they just absolutely break my heart. And now I'm the one taking it too seriously. Oi.

And seconding softly_me. I've never been in the Avatar fandom, (it scares the crap out of me, haha) so is it unpopular to like this episode or something?

It's not my favorite, but I liked it. Even though they brush off the death of a character I liked, it was a play presented by the Fire Nation. It didn't surprise me that they made the characters more silly because that was the point. Don't feel like you're doing it wrong because you like it. It was supposed to be funny.

I love this episode and it's all about us avatards being able to laugh at ourselves and some of the sillier things about ATLA (Zuko does have ridiculously fast growing hair).
It's a great episode and, quite honestly, what made me turn from someone who just caught what episodes I could (usually when my brothers turned it on) to obsessively watching as much as possible and getting all caught up as fast as possible, so I'll also love it for that.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE TOO, OP!!!

I was laughing my ass off the entire time, and felt like this episode was a love letter from Bryke to the fans. The part with Sokka talking to his actor, and the actor listening to his suggestions, making his performance a slightly better one, was pretty darn warm and squishy. In my crazy head, it was like Bryke said, "you complete us."
