I'm being totally tragic by saying this but me too, anon, me too.

I thought that I was/am over it. I do think they're happier having gone different directions. But then I'll remember that they'll probably never perform together again and semi-embarrassing to say, it makes my heart ache.

Right now I'm just feeling a bit sad about the fact that I'm not gonna hear Brendon singing some of TYV's songs that I feel would definitely have suited his voice.

Aww I'm sorry bb.

I just wish I could hear Brendon's voice on Dangerous Blues or Maybe I Will. I don't think Ryan is a terrible singer; in fact his voice really suits certain kinds of moods in songs. I just feel that Brendon's voice complements his a lot. Some of my most favorite songs from Pretty. Odd. were songs they sang together.

Oh I am so with you. Brendon and Ryan's voices used together is magical.

I do really love Ryan's voice though, so it's cool to have Ryan songs to listen to.

And to get off of the original topic even further... Jon totally isn't a bad singer at all, but I don't like hearing him do leads. His voice is good but generic as all hell.

I myself have a preference for Brendon's voice, but I definitely appreciate Ryan's tone in most of the songs. I'd always felt that his voice brought a certain sense of melancholy to songs.

I totally agree that Jon's voice is rather generic, but just like Ryan's, it suits the mood of certain songs. Like, I think it was a perfect choice for Jon to take the lead for Everyone But You instead of Ryan, because there's something honest and earnest and sad about his voice that just works for the song.

Going off tangent but, I love how songs like Northern Downpour can amplify both my happiness and sadness, depending on how I'm feeling when I'm listening to it.

When I first heard the song, I thought it was a cheerful song, and it always cheered me up. After the divorce though, it gives off this pining I-miss-you feeling that makes me sad. But of course it's always beautiful to listen to any time.

Northern Downpour has always been really melancholic to me. There's just something about the "hey moon" part that pulls at my heart, especially these days.

The divorce (I don't know why you phrasing it that way tickles me so much! haha) really puts a damper on the happier songs because you can't help but think about the state of their friendships when they worked together on those songs. Now that those friendships are strained/non-existent, it makes me sad to listen to them. That made no sense, and I'm sorry. I suck at explaining myself.

And no, no, I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so overinvested in the band and was just a casual fan. Because if I were one of those fans who didn't know Brendon's name and who refer to him as "the cute lead singer", I doubt the divorce would've affected how I felt when I listen to the songs.

The even more tragic thing is that I entirely haven't been in the fandom long enough to be as broken up about this as I am. I apparently jumped on the bandwagon late. For whatever reason, when I first heard their music, I had to know everything about them which is weird because rarely does that happen. I'm usually content just vaguely knowing what the members look like and possibly what their names are while still being in love with the music.

I got into bandom circa Pretty. Odd. because I'm not usually into mainstream music and their first album was getting so much coverage that I totally wrote them off :/ Suffice to say, I later fell in love with Pretty. Odd. and went searching for their previous works. I love both albums like BURNING now.

Sometimes though, I wish I'd entered the fandom later, after the divorce. Because then, I might've already gotten the used to the fact that the guys have parted ways. Then perhaps I would be less invested in them /o\

I was a fan for only like 7 months when they split, and I literally went from: 8D (that's me being in love and thrilled to have found something so awesome) to: D': (totally depressed foreva~).

I am so with you. I love both of these albums a ridiculous amount. Thanks to my sister who brought home A Fever from the used CD store, my life will never be the same. I was never into "that type of music (whatever it's even classified as these days)" until these guys.

I don't even remember why or how I got the music from Pretty. Odd. originally, but I immediately fell in love with that too.

I wonder how invested I would have gotten too if I'd joined the fandom after the split too. I read somewhere (I think on the P!ATD secrets LJ) how a fan found it amusing to think about people becoming fans when the 3rd album comes out because they'll be all, "Who're Ryan and Jon?". When I thought about that, I actually feel sad for those potential future fans. That is just... a ridiculous thing to be saddened by.
