On the other hand, it would have been absolutely impossible to keep the old team shiny for six seasons. I for one am glad that they changed it before it got stale and that they mixed old and new this season.

I really disagree with that. I think there was still plenty of room to explore the characterizations of the original ducklings and give them more depth. Instead they just entrenched the ducklings' roles as foils to House and nothing more.

That is complete fucking bullshit. They barely touched those characters, there were ENDLESS things they could have done with them instead of dumping them for pale, gimmicky imitations.

Could not agree more. House was the first time I've ever watched a series progress and thought "wow, this would have been way better if they'd just kept doing the same old, same old".

That they kept the old team around and continue to develop them shows that they still had more depth to add to the characters; all of which are more nuanced and more complex than the new cast, who seem to have a single quirk that defines them.

I wish they had brought the old team back, and not just Foreman, earlier.. Or at least couldn't they have been able to mix both the new and old team together with equal screntime? *sigh*

I'm always torn on this one. I definitely enjoyed earlier seasons more, but still like a lot about the later ones, too. I think there was a certain chemistry in the first team that they weren't able to replicate, even with casting really good actors. That said, in some ways, I think I miss some aspects and people in the fandom that disappeared when the old team did more than the team itself, because I don't really feel like there's anything wrong with the new one.

This so hard, especially the chemistry in the first team. But I think it was so good that it would've been hard to match in any other follow-up team, so it was about as solid as it could get in the second one, IMO.

I hated the new team at first too, but then they grew on me. There have been some really fantastic episodes with the new team, and I love(d) Taub, Kutner, Amber, and even Thirteen now that she's got more to do than be Foreman's love interest. The problem is, I think there was a really, really great dynamic that the old team had that's not there anymore.

I was thrilled when the old team came back for like two episodes. I wish they'd been able to work them back in better without writing out Cameron, even if that does make the team kind of huge.

I know what you mean. The other day I randomly ran into the S3 finale on Bravo. I was surprised by how easily I got caught up in it, when it wasn't even one of my favorites. I dig the show that's on now - but that was the show that got me hooked.
