No. People are clicking in to read. hit counters do not tell you how long they stayed or if they even read to the end.

hit counts do not mean it's a quality fic.

It is weird that the comments are freakishly low on AO3. Maybe just cause people don't have memberships.

Ah crap. I just (like ten minutes ago) posted a secret next week which is pretty much the same thing.

I don't know what it is about AO3, but people do NOT review. I suggest keeping your stuff on there (of course) but branching out.

If that's the only place you've been posting it, you could try cross-posting it to other archives or LJ or whatever. I've gotten the impression that people just don't comment much there.

I hear you. None of my stories have gotten reviews, but the number of hits my smallest fandoms are getting makes me thrilled.

Definitely crosspost it. To LJ and I'd suggest fanfiction.net if you can. Outside of the Yuletide posts (and even some of those aren't excluded), I've seen very few stories get comments on Archive of our Own.

Yeah- AOx3 is a great place to keep an easily navigable archive of all my stories that I can point people to...but feedback is just not there yet. (Of course my fandom doesn't have much of a presence on there yet.)

i agree with everyone here; people like your fic, doesn't mean they're going to leave you comments. most of the time they probably can't think of what to say, because i do the same.

on the flipside, lots of hits doesn't mean that they like it. i got lots of hits on one of my fics, but about six comments; i am torn between thinking YAY THEY LIKED IT and thinking that maybe they didn't leave a comment because they didn't like it but it's getting recced in places and they're just trying it out for themselves.

i'm not saying this is what is happening here, but you have to understand that hundreds of hits doesn't automatically mean that those people reading it will ultimately like it.

I think at this point AO3 is more a really great archive than a place where there's a lot of feedback, and that varies HUGELY from fandom to fandom. I post everything there because I like having everything there, but I read mostly on LJ or DW and I post to all three.
