I dunno what experience YOU'VE had with fandom (obviously, it must've been rather shitty), but fandom has, for the most part, been a really great place for me to be. I love it here. I'm not saying it's a fucking "magical land of unicorn sparkles and rainbows."

For me, though, it's been a fantastic experience and a wonderful place for me to talk to friends. But I fucking hate it when assholes act like assholes for the sake of getting their rocks off. It's unnecessary and it makes me hate people even more. I just don't understand what people's fucking problems are.

I've been in various fandoms for more years than I care to say, and my last one was the only one where watching the unbearable wank and shitheadedness eventually drove me off; the rest of the time fandom has always been a fun escape from real life worries.
