Horrible implications which could in no way exist purely in the mind of someone who is taking the term out of context. (I'll give you a hint, for free: the same corner of the Internet that gave us the term "trap" for a crossdresser such as Bridget is the very same corner that gave us the adage "Everyone's gay for Bridget.")

I am willing to believe that anime fans are using a direct translation of a Japanese term without being aware of the Western cultural narrative that makes it so horrible in English. That being said, I would recommend that you refrain from using the term outside your corner of the internet. It really is most offensive.

Well, no one said it was originally Japanese. But in anime fandom it's simply become a term used to refer to "convincing" crossdressing characters, with no insult intended. And this usage has become so common that I simply was unaware that the word was more commonly a malicious one. Therefore... I dunno, I think it's alright to use the term in the context of this secret.

I can understand the OP using the term while being ignorant of its nasty implications. If they didn't know, they didn't know. I hope that now that they do know, they'll refrain from using it.
