Well, you don't really "tie" in the World Cup because in the group stage, all of the teams play three games against the other teams in the group, and the two teams to get the most points out of all three advance. So if you tie every single game, unless you rack up a lot of goals, most likely you won't advance. I mean, look at England, they drew the US 1-1 and Algeria 0-0 so if they don't score against Slovenia they are out of the World Cup. Meanwhile, USA drew against England and drew Slovenia (ugh) 2-2, so we can still advance because we have more goals than England. We just have to win against Algeria.

After the group stage there aren't any more draws, it goes down to an overtime period and after that it's decided on penalty kicks (which is still lame IMO, I liked the idea of a "golden goal" better, which they used to have -- both teams play in extra time until someone gets a goal and that team wins)

When I mean tie, I meant just that, you can end up with the same score. That irks me. lol

Though, I do advocate the "golden goal" approach, or similar things. *sigh* FIFA, why are you rules so ugh?
