Actually, that's quite easy. All he needed was parents who didn't like the upcoming Nazi politics and fled the country with him while they still could, or fleeing the country himself.

Alternatively, he may also be Jewish, homosexual, a political activist or having had a relationship to a Jew, a political activist or a foreigner at the time.

That's really quite a number of options there, none of which are contradicted by the canon facts we know about him.

I know I could have chosen any one of those backstories, but the RED Medic already in residence and I thought it would be interesting if they had known each other previously and that was the way we both liked best.

When the wank really kicked in I offered to the mods to change his history if it would be easier. They said that was unwarranted, since I didn't and had never planned to bring up the Nazis with every single post. It's merely a past affiliation, something that he's not going to bring up now under any circumstances anyway. It's not as though I'm going to have him goose-stepping around Mayfield.

Oh, I hope I didn't sound like I was criticising your personal Medic! (I don't even know him. I think.) I was just generally commenting on the part about it being hard to imagine how he could not be/have been a Nazi.

(Personally, I'm not opposed to Nazi-Medic in RPs by default, though like the OP I do react allergic when I get the feeling someone is doing it for kink without doing any proper research, or when I feel like it's a sign that they are prejudiced against Germans. Or, you know, when people claim that canon Medic is a TOTALLY a Nazi, despite Word Of God.)

I'm probably just a little jumpy from the aftereffects of the wank; it's no problem.

(And yes, I agree with you; people doing anything in RP just for the kink bugs me, unless it's a sex RP, obviously. I honestly did do a decent amount of research together with the mun of his RED counterpart, and we tried to make the backstories somewhat believable.

I honestly could care less whether he's actually a Nazi in canon. The Word of God, being merely a second-hand assertion on a TF2chan thread, is a little tenuous, but then, the actual canon is pretty nonexistant as well. It could go either way and I'd be happy.)
