6- Her icons do suck, don't they? I don't understand why everyone uses them. Then again, I loathe Roy/Ed like burning, so I can't stand her or the stuff she does at all.

As far as being amused that none of them are able to move on, though, I personally stick with a fandom for up to four years, sometimes more, so... it's not really a BNF thing. It's just a fan thing, and if you think it's pathetic, boo on you.

Hear hear! Long haul ftw :)

Roy/Ed is stupid and creepy and I really don't understand why so many people are into it.

Exactly! I personally have issues with people who fly from fandom to fandom every six months or so. I may get into NEW fandoms, but I almost never leave the older ones.

Well, um, different people have different preferences. Doesn';t mean you have to like it, but respecting the fact that others do is always a nice thing to do. ♥

Yeah, seriously. I don't like Roy/Ed but I don't think it's stupid and creepy XD (that's reserved for ANOTHER FMA pairing...shhh)

Re: 6

[identity profile] dusk.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I used to be a biiiiig Roy/Ed fan, though that's mostly died out now XDD But there are a lot of really bizarre FMA pairings ... and it's not that it's bad to think that it's stupid/creepy, but bad to wonder how anyone could possibly think differently than you >>; What pairing? XD

Re: 6

[identity profile] ew-younerd.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
It was one of my so/so pairings, that, depending on how it was portrayed, I could take it or leave it. :) I like when it's all about the intellectual compatibility, but I never was really into it. I never hated it, though.

And I am afraid the latter part of the information is classified, since I would have fangirls jumping on me and trying to kill me for DISCRIMINATING AGAINST THEIR PURE LOVE (take a guess right there)

Re: 6

[identity profile] dusk.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
... hahahahaha

Yeah ... Elricest fans ... scare me, for the most part. :( I have nothing against the pairing, though I wouldn't go looking for fic or art of it XDD I like them much better as just brothers. :'D

[identity profile] tardious.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I dislike Elricist as well - the pairing I mean not because it's creepy or anything or the like but it seems like Ed did all of that throughout the series just to get some sex from his brother . . . that alone somewhat bothers me, you know?

Personal opinion though haha.

Re: 6

[identity profile] ew-younerd.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
HAWEJHWAE fine I give in. It's Elricest, and no, I am not a crazy adamant anti-incest shipper ( I don't like many incest pairings, but once in a while I fall ill to shipping a couple. Sandcest from Naruto is one of the very few), I just think they had a healthy and clearly defined brotherly relationship and it was creepy when people made it sexual.

Actually, I never really hated it until their fangirls started the wank wars :( I was actually more partial to most of the het ships in FMA *EVIL* though I did like some well-written slash once in a while.

Re: 6

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:41 am (UTC)(link)

Oh, I agree there. I dislike Elricest.

I prefer RoyxRiza and don't mind some HughesxRoy myself, even though I never really got into FMA. My best friend is a fan of HughesxRoy and kind of dragged me into it via association.

*.* OH YOU. Roy/Riza and Hughes/Roy are MY favourite ships!! ♥ !!

See, sekritly, part of the reason I dislike sky_dark so much (and this probably sounds stupid, but.) is because she's so rabid about Roy/Ed and yet dislikes Hughes/Roy. Like, I don't see how you can come up with all that Roy/Ed subtext and completely ignore the beautiful and meaningful friendship that Hughes and Roy have, and to me, those opinions make it seem like there's just bad Roy characterization going on. :/

Maybe that's just me loving Hughes/Roy too much, though. >_> Roy/Riza is nice too. <3

I'm really indifferent to Roy/Ed myself, mainly because Ed seems mature enough that it lowers the squick level for me. Ed's always going to be asexual in my book, though.

Re: 6

[identity profile] ew-younerd.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Same. :B Kind of like how I see Neji. Old enough mentally so that I'm not squicked by putting him with older people, but for the most part Neji seems meditation/counting birds-sexual to me while Ed seems intellsexual/sciencesexual to me.

Re: 6

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, I phrased that badly. XD;

u_u I don't think anyone is going to crucify you for bad phrasing *pat pat* people should never be surprised though when an incest couple or a large age gap couple (with the younger one being below the western age of consent) is met with squicked reactions, as long as they aren't extreme. :B Then that's when it gets wanky.

Wtf, EMI. DON'T GO ALONG WITH THE TREND. XD You asked to have one of those free Roy/Ed doujins I wanted to get rid of.

Re: 6

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it was free. XD And now I'm trying to get rid of it, along with some other stuff in my dorm room.

I phrased that badly, and I feel stupid for it. I just have issues with most pedophillic pairings.

Re: 6

[identity profile] sevendials.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

I've been into my current fandom for about seven years now, and the interest shows now sign of abating. Admittedly, I've only been involved in it in any kind of serious way since 2004, but if I really like something then yes, I can stick around for years. There's nothing the matter with sticking with something if you really enjoy it. (And what happens if you come into a fandom late? Should you have to pretend you're not interested really because it's not that popular any more?)

If knowing what I happen to like and refusing to trade it in for the Next Big Thing just because it's not cool to admit to liking it any more makes me pathetic then I'm pathetic and proud of it, dammit!

Re: 6

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to blink out of fandoms from time to time, but I always come back a few months later and catch up. I've never left one for good. If I'm taking the time to watch it, hell, I'm sticking with it.

Re: 6

[identity profile] the-angelic-sin.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I get too involved with any fandom -- I just kind of phase in-and-out (too many other things going on in life to really worry about much else). But yea... I still keep in touch with people I've met through fandom up to 8 years ago so I'm not too sure where the secret was going with that one point? Then again, I've never touched that series, so maybe there's drama that makes it humorous?

WORD. Been in the same primary fandom for more than 4 years now, and I find that really insulting. It's my fandom, and I don't see why I need to leave it to be a "good fan."
