I don't think students using drugs, alcohol and cigarettes had much to do with the stress of going to a good school. It's a common part of the social aspect of college. Whether the school be good or bad, whether the student be stressed or relaxed, I think you'll find college students who drink alcohol, do drugs, and smoke cigarettes across all demographics of college.

College, yes, but the OP's talking about high school. And (while my high school was both full of stoners and not super competitive) I think that stuff is generally less a part of the latter than the former.

I drink, I've smoked and I've used weed and I don't think there's anything wrong with these things I also think it's admirable to abstain through these things when you're surrounded by people who do drink/smoke/use drugs. I think there's only a danger when we go into excess and of course there's going to be people who do this.

Aside from that, yeah loved Sabrina when I was younger and now that I do think about it she was a better role model than most of the other people playing teens on tv. Maybe it was because Joan Hart was a bit older.

I'm rewatching that show right now for kicks, and it's so great! The last few seasons went kooky crazy all over the place, but the first few are really, much better than I remember them. I also remember something about Melissa Joan Hart doing an interview some time during the show's run about how she tried hard to keep Sabrina a good role model despite the utterly silly pretense of it all. This was some daytime talk show back in the day.

I wish Sabrina the Teenaged Witch had a grownup fandom, btw. What I would give for some post-series Harvey & Sabrina have Adventures and Salem Saves the Day fic!

I can't really say I ever had a fandom role model as per se, but if I have to choose one as a teen, Sabrina would be right on the top. She's a combination of a little bit derpy, a little bit ditzy, yet she's such a sensible and kind person coming down to it.

Also love how not preachy the show is, which is a rare thing for shows with intentions of role models.

And and... A show aimed at children and teens with a loving non-nuclear family that didn't involve the main character moping about not having her married parents around all day? More, please~

I thought the quality of the show went downhill after season three and found the final season without the aunts completely unwatchable, but it was awesome in it's prime and Sabrina was a really nice character. She made mistakes and could be selfish, sure, but she was basically a sweet girl with a good heart and the show was good clean fun. It was a fantastic show to grow up with and I still love watching it now.

Salem was always my favourite character, though. The cat got all the best lines!
