Possibly -- that was where the Chekov/Sulu issues stemmed from, too, over Chekov's characterization/"ukeishness."

If I had to guess, though, I'd predict if wank DID happen, it would be from Kirk's canon status as kind of a slut and whether authors present that as a shameful life that McCoy saves him from, or whether McCoy takes it in stride. "I'M SICK OF McCOY LETTING KIRK CHEAT ON HIM," I can just imagine being the inciting outcry.

However, I don't actually want that to happen to the Kirk/McCoy folk, as it's a terrible and painful experience and can wind up killing the community. Intraship wank is so much more damaging than the intership kind.

I can't even remember what the wank in Chekov/Sulu was about. XD; What WAS it about, anyhow? I still can't think of anything obvious to wank about there. XD;

oh lol, I nick all of them, I'm a huge thief treasure hunter. ;___; I wish I could draw so bad, but in the meanwhile I just steal from the Japanese and pray it's a more ethical practice when the artists don't know I'm flaunting stolen goods. I KNOW IT'S WRONG ;A;

My thoughts exactly. Ostensibly, it was about some people being pissed off that a certain characterization of Chekov (manly/badass/topping/saucy/i don't even know) was not more popular, but really it was about a few determined anons with serious grudges being, if I may use the Latin, nasty little shits.

lol see Chekov/Sulu used to be insanely close-knit and goofy and really fun (PRE-WANK), and I guess those who felt left out were really hurt? And decided the solution was to be nasty little shits. So there you have it.

AHHH, so I see. ;) I should draw some more FF6 stuff....my first ever fanart that wasn't like...Mickey Mouse was a drawing of Edgar. :D That was like 17 years ago or some shit. Crap I'm getting old. Instead, I'm drawing chibi-Kirk sitting on a hydrangea. Yup.

Ahhh, okay, I do remember that. I thought that whole affair was just silly...I mean, the point of fanfic/art is to explore the characters, right? If people want to see the characters a certain way, they should just do it themselves or positively promote what they want to see...bitching just makes people get defensive or disenchanted, most of the time. I mean, there has been some rumblings of certain kinds of fics being more popular than others in the K/Mc area, but people tend to just try to fix that (me, to a point) or make another comm where they can promote their favorite ideas (like bottommccoy, for example.)

I remember reading all those fun C/S fics...I've missed seeing them around lately. :/

Makes me want to start a "Star Trek Happy and Fun Fanfic/art No Wank Allowed Peace and Love etcetcetc" community sometimes. ;)
