That movie was awesome. I spent the whole time asking myself "wtf am I watching and why can't I look away?" And then I realized it was because I was watching awesome incarnate.

Yes it's a horribly offensive movie, but it offends everyone, including groups the director and his family are in (Jews and French people? Damn right that's Richard and Marie).

I gotta tell you, it takes chutzpah to make a movie like that. Especially since I have a feeling that it involved asking "Honey, would you mind being groped by the guy from Fantasy Island?" Not to mention "Now in this scene, dad, you hump a wall for ten seconds."

Chutzpah with a big ol' chunk of awkward, too! Apparently Hervé Villechaize and Susan Tyrrell (the Queen) were dating for a time, but the two had a messy break up pre-production. According to Richard Elfman, they fought periodically throughout the production of the film. I can only imagine some of the Queen's jealousy wasn't exactly "acting". XD

I'd not heard of this movie before this secret, but IMDB's trivia section notes:

"The storyline about the adventures of a family who explore the 6th Dimension was added later to tie everything together."

which... might be the 2nd-best sentence I've ever seen in my life.
