Admittedly, I didn't know there was a 1953 version, but I don't see why you can't like it better than the '97 version. But, who cares? As long as you don't go around pissing on everyone who likes the '97 version, it isn't even an issue.

the 1953 version, a night to remember and the cheesy 1996 miniseries are all better than the james cameron version

the 97 movie only gets points for the meticulous sets and costumes and the special effects were pretty good for the time. but the plot is so horrible (and basically stolen from the earlier films, it makes me want to die. at least the 96 version kept the two lovers in third class and included a real family from the ship

Wait, they're talking about A Night To Remember? Okay yeah, that's kind of the gold standard there. ETA: Oops, I see you're referring to 3 different movies there. I don't think I've seen the '53 version.

I disagree with the miniseries, though, if it's the one I'm thinking of. That one added far too much soapy nonsense. Also I remember hating the heroine yelling at some woman for taking her Pomeranian on the lifeboarts. They were half empty, lady!

well, admittedly, the 96 one was horribly camp and cheesy, but i did like the fact that they included an actual family that was the ship, although they mixed up the stories about the nanny (they mixed up the alice cleavers, there was one who had killed her child, but it wasn't the alisons' nanny)

but yes, ANtR is like the definitive. it helps that i was crushing hardcore on kenneth more

I...like the song. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I just can't hate on the song(or Celine Dion for that matter, haters to the left).
