Just post it again. Say that someone else already filled the prompt, which you're thankful for, but you just want to read more fic about the pairing and the kink.

yeah, but then it's poor form to whine about how what others do with it is not what they wanted etc. If it means so much to them, and they don't want to see someone mess up their precious prompt, they should write it themselves.

Is this on an anon meme? I would just repost the prompt pretending that I wasn't the original requester, maybe phrase it a little differently, say I saw the other fill but wanted to see the same kink done a little differently.

There's nothing against multiple fills on a prompt (if you're talking about a kink meme or something similar). If nobody else is filling it, maybe the prompt isn't as great as you think it is.

I had someone reply to one of my prompts with a link to someone else's (non-porny) fic, which I'd already read. I didn't want to look entitled/ungrateful, so I pretended like I'd never seen it before, but I'm still kind of disappointed that I never got a real fill.

also, does anybody know why people ask about multiple fills being ok? Of course they are ok!! Who wouldn't want more about their prompt?

I feel that way about the fic I received for a fic exchange. My writer copped out on the pairing, they glided by on my required prompts and they clearly gave me something I wouldn't like. Worst of all, their skills as a writer were so bad, they completely contradicted the concept they were trying so hard to put across. It was a train wreck!

I wrote a big ragey rant in my lj about it and didn't reply to their post for weeks I was so angry at the fic/writer. And unlike a kink meme, I don't have the option of reposting and hoping for the best. I'm just stuck with a shitty fic.

I'm never doing a fic exchange again.

Ugh - this is why I've learned keep a distance from anon kink memes. I've seen some of the things that get written for these, and they're just copouts. Example: one writer I know has repeatedly taken a "kink" and just written a humor/crack-piece for it. I was left thinking, "I thought kink meant it was supposed to at least try to be hot?" If you can't find something actually sexy in the topic you're writing, leave it to someone else, please.

It takes a lot of courage for some people to respond to things like that. I personally would be grateful that someone had written my fic at all, much less gone out of their way to research the kink beforehand instead of just using their imagination.

Yeah, but when someone asks for pairing A/B with kink apples and gets C/D with kink oranges it's really not the prompt the OP asked for. You should thank the person nonetheless, but why the hell is wanting someone to actually write what you asked for rude?

Either rephrase the prompt to be more specific about what you're looking for and repost, or find another comm and repost it as is. No reason to agonize about it. If you take the second route and your writer wasn't anon, you can even find a comm s/he isn't on, so they'll never know.
