But Shatner will always be my Kirk. Loved the reboot, but it's in a category by itself.

I agree! Picard is my favorite captain, but Shatner is my Kirk. And I do love me some Kirk. (Can't stand Shatner in any other contexts though...)

... I think William Shatner has ruined the Kirk illusion for me. That and he can't hold a candle to Patrick Stewart. I do wish I hadn't read the Encyclopedia Shatnerica.

The big James Doohan/William Shatner mutual hate-on, for a start... I wanted the Original Trek set to have been happy fluffy bunny land, and it wasn't. :( That, and the vanity. And the fact that he can't sing and he releases albums. One would have thought, after destroying Rocket Man, he'd have had second thoughts, but noooo...

I thought Chris Pine was a much better actor than Shatner, and I can't really stand Shatner personally because he's such a self-important douchebag, but...

I love Shatner and CPine. Shatner's been around longer, done his time, so to speak... but I like them both.

As for other captains... Picard seems more... captainly, in a way that Kirk doesn't. Also, Archer is pretty cool too ;)
