Not the OP but that's Rory for Doctor Who and I assume "boyfriend or girlfriend" because the OP is admiring his personality traits, not his gender, and OP is perhaps bisexual.

If OP dates both boys and girls, that doesn't change the fact that Rory would just be someone's boyfriend. So I'm still confused. But I agree with OP.

IKR? I don't get it either....

Perhaps I'm missing something, but it just makes me think of Friends when they all know the sex of Ross' wife's baby, except Ross, and Monica says 'I'm just excited to be an Aunt' and Joey goes 'Or Uncle!!' like she could be giving something away! :p. This reminds me of that confusion!

Even if they date both, he's a boy so he'd be a boyfriend- ooooddd.

Amy is sort of jokingly the "man" of the relationship, because she is assertive and dominant and extraverted, while Rory is devoted, hopelessly romantic, and submissive. So I think the "girlfriend" bit is saying he's kind of has girl. Which, honestly, I don't want to get into the implications of that.

I prefer to think of him as a sidekick than get into the whole "acts like a girl" thing, especially since I don't think Rory acts like a girl.

Prolly the OP just means that this character has all the traits he or she looks for in a partner, and doesn't consider those traits to be gender-specific.
