How does it reek of mommy issues ? Just because Ginny and Lily have the same hair colour it does not make them the same person nor is it an Oedipus Complex so I don't get it.

Exactly. The whole Oedipus/Mommy issue thing I find as ridiculous as calling her a whore. I mean, ffs, if Lily and Ginny were brunettes, no one would even make the connection.

I sure hope none of these people have EVER dated someone with the same damn hair color as their parent, otherwise they've clearly got issues.

I find Hermione and Lily to be more similar in personality to be honest !!!

Calling H/G an example of an Oedipus Complex just shows that people don't what one is.

Well, they ARE both barely characterized beyond 'spunky, smart, and every guy wants to bang her', so I can see the connection there. But since we really know nothing about either of them, it's hard to say.

I actually find both Lily and Ginny to be characterized beyond 'spunky, smart, and every guy wants to bang her'. Especially with Ginny - she has a lot of characteristics but apparently people just ignore it. She's one of the most characterized females in the books IMO being second only to Hermione who has much more page time.

OK, I've only read the series once, so this might be basic info, but how do we know Lily was also a redhead? I keep reading about this everywhere and can't for the life of me remember it. Rowling always made a point to emphasize her eyes, but nothing more. I always thought she was a brunette/light brown-haired with green eyes?

Aha! I guess my brain doesn't register redheads in the HP universe unless they have "flaming" red hair, haha. I should have gone back to that chapter in the first place. Thanks for taking the time to look it up! :)
