I meant "polite", and I can't tell if you're responding to that and making the same typo or thinking that I meant "heavily moderated"? Either way, maybe that was the wrong word, but it seems like in the rare event that wank actually gets posted there, there's always at least one person going "oh, I don't know, guys, this person might have some serious problems, maybe we shouldn't make fun of them!" That kind of thing.

And I don't recall seeing any wanks, recently or otherwise, where large numbers of people involved in the original wank were commenting to bash the other side. I mean, there was the Doctor Who one lately where the original wanker was a member of f_w and commented on the post, but she didn't smear anyone... I don't know, maybe I'm missing something here.

Actually, yeah, she did smear a few people, both in the f_w, the anon_meme and her and others' personal journals. Several of the people she smeared included one of her f-list friends and that f-list's best friend.

There were also several people in the f_w post who were continuing the wank in the posts, which snacky handwaved.

I just went back over that post to see if I'd missed some wank there, but I seriously do not see her calling anyone out by name or saying anything that could be construed as smearing anyone. If she did so in the anonmeme or in personal journals, then that's outside of the FW mods' jurisdiction, isn't it? (I don't know who runs the anonmeme, but even if it shares mods, I'm not sure if people can be banned in fandom_wank for what they do on a different comm.)

Is there just a secret code that I'm missing here? I mean, I don't know the wanker from Adam and I don't know who her friends are, so maybe buried deep within the shipping squee there are snide comments about her friends, but I'm not seeing it.

Oh, and I should add that even if I am missing the secret code, that's the only recent instance I remember of a wanker so much as commenting on a wank involving them, so I still don't think it's as much of a huge, widespread problem as you make it out to be. And while people were wanking in that post, I don't think that in itself has been a bannable offense at any point in the five-ish years I've been there.
