Your problem lies INSIDE you, not outside

[identity profile] sara-rojo.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That's your problem. We have a right to like things and be nerdy and spend our times in front of our PC. Beauty isn't everything. All your problems aren't automatically solved because you're beautiful
In fact, beauty can create problems. I've never had a boyfriend in my life that's lasted me more than three weeks, because I'm extremely distrustful of guys.
LOL (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitle5w3hc6z54tky?from=Main.SoBeautifulItsACurse), though I'm nowhere near this gorgeous, and anyway, it's not a real problem, it's my fault; it's my atittude that makes me like this. I'm reasonably attractive, but it's because I'm paranoid that I tend to assume the worst of guys. I'd probably turn similarly paranoid if I wasn't attractive, just about another thing

Not being beautiful doesn't make people losers who spend all their times on their PCs and get pettily jealous of people who are gorgeous. I know many unattractive people who aren't like that at all, and some of them are very socially successful, very generous and genuinely happy when other people succeed, and have an active, intense social life.
It's your atittude that makes you like this, not your attractiveness.

The same way, being beautiful doesn't necessarily make you interesting, popular or a winner. It can help, but so does intelligence, being witty, being rich, being friendly, being lucky, being sweet and kind; even something as ridiculous as having an older sibling who's any of this can do something for you!
I'm one sad example of this: As I said, I'm attractive by the beauty standards of my country and our times. I'm also extremely lazy in social relations, so I lose friendships because I don't call, I never want to go out, I forget birthdays, etc. I lose interest halfway through my relations. I enjoy myself more spending one night in front of my computer doing silly fangirl things than going out anywhere, I'm a hermit. I hate socialising. I hate going shopping. My laziness is so bad, I don't even wax my legs or paint my nails, and I don't wash my hair as often as I should. I'm also not the most pleasant and agreeable person to be around.

This is all an atittude problem, it has nothing to do with attractiveness. So is yours. You can go out, you can socialise, you can try to be generous and admire beauty without being spitefully envious of it, and you'd probably feel better about yourselves. You don't have to be beautiful to do any of this.

Yup. Except I don't really care about people to begin with, so it's not a problem for me.

I don't have a real problem with my life either; since I'm very aware of this being a problem of my atittude, if I wanted to change I'd try to do it. It'd be a bit hipocritical of me to say this if I was unhappy with it. I'm a hermit by choice, and I stay home because I'm happier that way, I keep being lazy because it's too much of a bother to change. I've often thought how curious it is that typing looong responses like this isn't...but then again, my PC fandom life is 75% of my life, so it's not that surprisingXD

However, OP sounds unhappy being all this, and I'm just telling him/her that it has nothing to do with beauty and a lot to do with their atittude toward life
