Really gotta disagree on that. Of course reasonable discussions exist and of course there are things which deserve to be brought up, but I'm afraid torch-wielding mob is really not that far from the truth for a good chunk of fandom.

I think there's a difference between someone commenting on a subject because everyone on their flist has posted about it and they want to get in on it, and deliberately going out to attack someone. Especially since, in my experience, these posts usually focus on broad trends, not individuals. I'll use the J2 Haiti wank, since someone kept a running collection of posts related to it. The vast majority would mention the writer of the story only in passing. A substantial number wouldn't mention her at all. It's definitely a bandwagon, but since there's no real desire to attack the original failer, it's not a lynch mob.

I really can't tell if you're trolling right now; lol using "lynch mob" in the context of isms, wow.

I used it because I've seen it used regularly in these discussions. That doesn't make it right, of course. I'm sorry, I should've chosen another, less offensive word.
