But so many of the girls in my main fandom are gorgeous and HAVE LIVES and stuff and interact with other fans so easily, and it's like, shit. I was the loser kid in high school who WANTED to be accepted but never was, and ended up with a couple girls who either didn't care or were REALLY good at pretending that they didn't. Now most of my social interaction takes place in the fandom that people in school thought I was a loser for liking as much as I did/do, I'm STILL that kid? A friend even told me I should get drunk because I was "better with alcohol". So much for fandom being a haven for the socially awkward.

But it isn't. It never was.
Those girls have lives because they WANT TO. Not becaase they're good looking. Shit. Also, who says fandom is not a life? Hell, if you're that unhappy in fandom, shut off this computer now and go out. Go to some courses, meet new people. Get a job. Hell, even looking for one will allow you to meet people.
It's YOU who thinks fandom is less, is for losers. I am attractive and I fucking LOVE fandom over social life, parties and shit. Why are you insulting it?

Yet I'm skinny (unhealthily so; keep trying to gain weight but it's not working) and been told I'm attractive before. I've also been hit on (primarily by gay guys, lesbians and bisexuals) but I'm single because I'm completely clueless about relationships. But that didn't stop all those problems because I've always been a complete social failure; I actually more than fulfill the diagnostic criteria for Asperger's. I got relentlessly bullied throughout school and picked on by the popular kids who thought I was weird or gay (I'm asexual). Fandom was my escape, and I hate it when people assume that anyone who isn't completely ugly should not be here.
