Klavier was a grower on me, but first time I played it I got kind of sick of his "olol we so buddy buddy right??? time to appeal to fangirls byeeeee!"
In 4-3 where we got to see the other side of him, I wish that had come out a lot more during trials since it doesn't feel like a victory until the prosecutor gets really pissed.

As for Kristoph, I didn't find him scary at all. Same for Dahlia (They were both awesomely villianous though). Hell, everyone seems to consider them the most evil things ever but imo Morgan is the one who I am actually terrified of.

I think Dahlia and Kristoph both sort of play into that camp-magnificent-villain rather than being actually menacing. They're wonderfully evil, but not particularly scary because you still think you could taken them in a fight, if you get what I mean.

And I agree with the Klavier development thing. I was kind of "eh" on him until later parts of the game and now I actually really like him :D

But Morgan Fey... She just really creeps me. It doesn't help that in my head canon she killed a boy at a young age and dumped his body in the village pond. (She had to have a start of darkness somewhere, right?)

Though I can think of a fic for Dahlia (one where Iris visits her in jail before her death sentence) and Kristoph (the one where he kills his parents) that generally made them a bit scary.

It's possibly the contrast between Morgan and Pearl that really brings how dark she is home :)

Yeah, I also didn't like Klavier at first and was pissed off at how he was supposed to be a replacement for simmerous Edgeworth, but I played the game a few more times and guess what - I may like him better than Edgeworth (!) now. Out of pure RAGE I wrote a while ago an "essay" on why-Klavier-isn't-as-flat-as-you-may-think-he-is with screenshots/script quotes for proof and everything, I swear. (I'm just going to post it.) It bothers me that he gets so much unjustified hate. Kristoph, on the other hand, is an asshole and I think he deserves both the hate and love he gets, because he's such a classy one. :D Doesn't change the fact that he's, well, a pathetic asshole. But I liked him when he was just being his usual caustic self. Too bad he got involved in such a mess.

Kristoph reminds me a LOT of Light from Death Note, and my feelings about him are pretty much the same: I think he's very interesting, and I see why people would like him, but I'm just not a fan. (I do ship him with Phoenix, though. Actually, in my headcanon, Phoenix/Kristoph is a lot like L/Light.) At any rate, with your history, I certainly don't blame you for not liking him.

I do love Klavier. I think he shows a lot of strength and complexity of character over the course of the game, and he's someone I would want to know in real life. I don't ship him with Apollo, though, so that kind of puts me in the minority in fandom.

I didn't really care for Apollo Justice in general (sorry, diehard Phoenix Wright fan here) because well, Apollo doesn't have as much personality (imo). I like him, just not as much as Phoenix. Same goes for Klavier and Edgeworth. though I like both of them a lot more if you ship them together (Apollo/Klavier, that is.)

Kristoph, I just didn't care about at all.

Kristoph is a nasty guy for sure and fairly clever to boot, but no, he doesn't really strike me as a major villain. I think that and Klavier's codependence on him are trumped up A LOT in fandom compared to what's actually in the game.

I thought the ones liking either of the Gavins were in the minority. After the hype for AJ died out, I rarely see anyone in the fandom talking about those characters. Everyone returned to the PW schedule, even CAPCOM.

I do agree that Kristoph wasn't a good villain and his motivation/actions seem really shallow. He's fun to mock, however.

I strongly disagree about Klavier, but if you're so set in your point of view I think I'd be wasting my time ranting on why I don't find him flat. So I'll skip that, haters gonna hate, etc. Instead, I must say I don't understand why the interpretation of dependency I keep seeing. I didn't think they were even close at all. After case 4-1, I saw Klavier going on with his life normally, and he's only anxious when he faces Kristoph on case Misham. I took it as a reaction when having to antagonize someone psycho from your family and they're pressuring you to take on their side. But eh, whatever gives evidence to your logic system.

This, and everything after it. Seemed to me he was doing just fine after 4-1. As far as I can recall, there was never even mention of Klavier visiting Kristoph in prison or anything. The dependency is entirely a fandom invention based on the fact that they have the same hair and are both lawyers, so obviously Klavier must idolize his big brother, right?

Considering Kristoph's a defense attorney and Klavier decided to become a prosecutor, I find it more likely Klavier thought of him as a rival than a role model.

It's funny because according to interviews, Klavier's design came first and Kristoph's hair was based on his XD But speaking in-game, I think you can still copy someone's hairdo or style without really clinging to them.

Yeah! That's the vibe I got as well! Not that he doesn't have brother issues, but they seem to me more "I'll show him I'm good/better than him!" (perhaps he did admire him earlier and thought he was respectable, which explains his mood in the trial, but nothing like what fandom makes of it?) He seemed really keen at 17 to face Kristoph in court, and in 4-2 he was actually cheerful about going against the guy who beat his brother. Had he been really dependent, I think he would've been a little more Franziska-like at least in that first time against Apollo.
