There're lots of things we don't talk about with our friends---or anyone, no matter how close they are to us. I don't think your liking that in fiction makes you a worse person OP.

Don't feel bad, OP, a lot of people are like that.

I'm kind of into non-con/rape, and two of my closest friends were raped by their fathers. :T And three of my other friends have dealt with non-incestuous sexual abuse.

We can't help our sickfuck kinks.

It all depends on the reasons you like it, in my mind. There are some fics I love that really torture characters that I love, and basically the reason I love them is just to feel something that intense, and to enjoy the craftsmanship of writing that can accomplish that, even if it is something so dark. I don't think this is an uncommon attitude, or angst would not be so big a genre. Just because you like reading about something doesn't mean you want it to actually happen to people, or that you aren't sensitive to real people in that situation. In fact, I imagine it would make you more sensitive.

I love angst too. Not specifically suicide/guilt fics, but I love to write and read character death fanfictions. Actually, a vast majority of the fanfictions I write are character death fanfictions. To the point that whenever I mention that I am writing something people usually ask "who dies this time?".
So yeah, I guess that if you're screwed up, I am too.

I like these too, to an extent. It really tears me up and I vastly prefer fluff to angst. But sometimes I'll be reading a story where one character betrays (or it seems like they betray) another character, and then character 2 rejects them, etc... and then I start making up scenarios- like, character 1 ends up committing suicide or leaving or whatever, and character 2 realizes they fucked up but there's no turning back.

Screws up my love for happy endings, which is why I don't read it much.

... yeah, that is kinda sick and fucked up, ngl.

Just wanted to send out a general "thank you" to everyone who commented here; I'd expected to be pounced on by trolls, and it was a wonderful surprise to find such understanding comments.
