Yeah. Anime is much more than Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. There's almost as much variety (if not as much) as in cinema, literature, animation from other countries. And that's because it's not a GENRE, it's a MEDIUM.
I hope you two get it, but I really doubt so. You are perfectly satisfied with dismissing it as total garbage, and you have no reason to take off the hatred glasses and see that, maybe, there's something worthwhile in anime, even if it's not for you and your sensibilities.
(I don't even know why do I waste time on what's probably a case of trolling)

(Anonymous) 2010-07-25 04:39 am (UTC)(link)Second, I don't hate animation as a medium. (Anime is not a medium. Animation is a medium. /artist rant.) I don't like any style of anime I've ever seen (and I've seen a good range, considering fandom is full of anime fans positive they can convert anyone if only they can make them watch enough of it). Sorry. I like my animation to look like it's not missing every other frame.
So we disagree. So what? I don't feel "rabid" about it; I just don't like it, so I don't watch it, and I'm tired of still getting reactions like yours (close to racism? really?). So I posted in support of the OP.
I don't dismiss it as having nothing to offer-- obviously it has *something*, or it wouldn't have a following so aggressive to those who disagree (though that's a little frightening, itself). I just don't like looking at it, in the same way I prefer Degas to Pollack. It would just be nice to be able to say so without having my morals called into question (thus proving the OP's point, btw. Good job).
