OP, you show a picture of Katara after their kiss during the invasion, but they didn't show the image immediately following that where Katara looks shaken, uncertain, and definitely uncomfortable with the situation. There's also the confrontation between them in EIP where she definitely doesn't sound eager to start a relationship. She's confused and snappish at being pushed, which tells me that there are definitely things that need to be worked out between them.
Yet we don't see any of that; their romance skips directly to being actualized and all of Katara's reservations are wiped away. That's my issue with it. There was some development on Katara's part, but not nearly enough considering how uncomfortable she seemed after Aang kissed her.

The situation being the iminent battle that she is about to take part in!?
I can totally understand wanting to see more of a follow-up between EIP and the finale (I sort of wish they did too tbh), but I think we in fandom tend to stress the romantic sequences without placing it in context. They're about to lay siege on the most powerful nation in one hundred years, not only risking the lives of their friends, family and themselves but also the fate of all nations. As far as they knew, everything hinged on whether they succeeded. They both knew it was important to have their feelings known and to "confess", but it wasn't the most important thing on their minds that day.
(and having watched that rewatched that scene like a bajillion times, it's only until after she realizes what Aang was saying (i.e. "What if I don't come back?") that she becomes sad and uncertain, not neccessarily the kiss itself)
I dunno, does that make sense? The kiss before the invasion is one of my favourite Kataang scenes so I sort of went off on a tangent. Sorry about that!
