I'm glad they tied it up. The only people who seem dissatisfied with the ships being finalized are those whose shops didn't end up canon.

But then again, I don't get the big deal with being canon anyway. Mind you, I have no issue with Kataang, Maiko, and Sukka. I ship everything, fanon or canon it doesn't matter. But the creators said Aang and Katara were in the DNA of the show and once Mai sacrificed herself out of love for Zuko there honestly needed to be some sort of resolution to that.

Shipping isn't fair and an open end wouldn't have done anything for the story except make a few butt hurt shippers a little less vocal. And now that we know Tenzin is Aang and Katara's son there has been a butt load of wank. So an open end to AtLA would have served no purpose.

Disagree. I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving some relationships open ended considering we're talking about freaking KIDS here. In fact, it weirds me out to speculate on whether they're going to get married considering how young they are.

I wouldn't have had a problem with Tenzin being Aang and Katara's kid, because at least there would be some speculation on how they got together. But knowing that Aang was the first boy that Katara ever met who was her own age (and not her brother), and Katara was pretty much the first available girl that Aang had ever met, they never date anyone else, and then they start a relationship when he's 13 and she's 15...and then they get MARRIED...I don't know, that is weird to me.

...Also, it seems kind of like Bryke has a huge hard-on for First Girl Wins, except less First Girl, and more "First Person You Ever Meet," considering Suki is also the first available girl that Sokka ever meets, and it's probably the same with Mai and Zuko (I doubt Zuko got out very much as a kid...).

Eh, doesn't bug me too much. They went through a lot together. Shared joy, sadness, pain, and hardship. Lived and nearly died together. And in those situations you see what someone is really like.

And in the Ava-world, people got married at 16. 14/15 year old girls were leading armies and talking down to grown men. They are clearly not the same as today's teens. If you were talking about them in our world I'd agree. Many of today's teens are interested in malls, texting, and their relationships last about as long as it takes to eat a Taco Bell taco.

But these are not today's teens. maybe it doesn't bug me cause I don't judge them by modern standards.

Aang apparently traveled the world before being frozen. And they encountered many kinds of teens, kids, men, woman, etc. It would stand to reason they are intelligent enough to for opinions on the kind of person they could like. Katara had the experience with Jet. I'm sure that taught her something.

And I also don't think kataang will be all rainbows. they'll experience growing pains and issues like all couples.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I LOVE Aang/Katara but I hated that final kiss. As it's been stated in other comments relating to this secret, we don't see how Katara gets over her concerns and confusion before deciding to hook up with Aang. This bothers me, especially with the show's previous history of having such great characterization and thoughtful reasons why characters react like they did.

I also wish there was more development with Zuko and Mai to show how they got together. I heard there had been a comic or something, but I would have rather seen it in the show. In the beginning of season 3 they felt thrown together, and even though they grew on me I still would have rather seen more development.

So even though my three favorite ships of the series are canon, I'm not satisfied with two of them. (For those curios, the third is Sokka/Suki.)
