I dunno, I think there'd be less pin-uppy art of Samus if she was revealed to be in her 40s-50s, but I think she'd still have fans just as a badass even if she wasn't in her twenties. I mean, I did whatever it is you call the manly version of a squee the other day at work when I found out Helen Mirren (65 this year) was going to be playing a badass role in Red (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_%282010_film%29).

To be fair, they've been stripping Samus's robot suit off since the very first Metroid game. So, it's not like it's a recent development.

I do agree that I wish they didn't feel the need to make Samus more and more of a sex object. Like a woman can't be awesome and kickass unless she's also smoking hot or something...

See, this is what I don't get. Most of the Metroid fanboys couldn't care less what she looks like under the suit. They like Samus because Samus kicks ass. If they want half-naked hotties there's the internet for that. I think this might be less of a statement on fanboys and more of a statement about what the industry thinks of fanboys.

Seriously. The girl in the best-selling video game series at the moment appears only in a full kevlar flak suit. They do not care as much as the industry thinks they care. If they want to see a woman in her underwear they can any time they wish.
