I admit, I haven't read the comic since they were all trapped in that weird hotel with those people that looked like they were from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Maytag was talking to some lady in a room...

But I admit, Crest was defiantly my favorite character and I haven't really liked the comic since chapter 14/15.

I haven't caught up with it in around a month but I agree, he was the best character. I've pretty much given up on it because I couldn't stand the awful dialogue any longer... and the art.

MTE. I haven't read the comic in a loooong time, but I also started back when Book 0 was current. He was just Random New Guy to me.

I read it for a while last year (I even donated once) or maybe the year before, and at least when I started reading it, the focus was on Crest at that time. iirc there was an arc about him playing cards or something to help restore his mom's sight, and then an apparent infatuation with Maytag.

The focus was on Crest and it stayed that way until they left on the quest and ended up fighting the cannibal monster, when it switched back to Maytag and Bernadette.

And started getting boring, so I dropped it.

I'm just really tired of Maytag. I mean, it's clear that's she's supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread, and she was fun for awhile, but she never really changes. And Bernadette doesn't really have a personality outside of 'badass and stoic', which is just as dull with a female character as it usually is with a male character. :/

Agreed. I'm hoping things will change now that she's lost all her stuff, but all the focus on Maytag's messed-up sexual mores have been really off-putting for a while now. I might drop the comic soon myself.

A lot of "Maytag's Sexuality: Our Emotional Subplot!" seemed like a long-winded & kinda tedious way to justify a fetish-fuel character. |D There are more graceful ways to do that. And she's less appealing as a character when she spends so many panels going "Dang, should I feel bad about being sexy? Or shouldn't I? Woe is me!"

I'm thinking of dropping it, too. I think it's partially that it was engaging enough when I could read at archive-speed, but getting three pages a week is making me realize how neither the art nor the characters are that rewarding.

Still, it'd sting to drop a comic that still updates fairly reliably. xD There's something to be said for a story that won't suddenly vanish, even one with flaws!

Agreed on all counts. XD; Especially when the plot about the Thin Man seems like it would be about a hundred times more interesting than Maytag's waffling, if we could just see more of it. At the very least we should get a reprieve now that Maytag's lost her costume. (Though, I still don't see what's the deal with her split personality. It seems really superfluous, like the author was trying too hard to justify making her a faux action girl or something. Most female characters have the upper arm as their achilles' heel; Maytag has to be stripped completely naked. Or something like that. :/ )
