They white wash movies that are based off real people, you know. Like, Genghis Khan and that movie 21, about that hot white couple who broke bank by using math at black jack tables? That was actually about a group of Asian students.

It's a problem because they aren't considering the source material. They're considering race. And they find anything that isn't passably white wanting.

And the problem with your POV is that you're saying it isn't about race. If it isn't about race, why couldn't they stay the original race? Why were they defaulted to white? Minority actors should be able to get roles that aren't about race. It shouldn't have to be about their race for them to have that role.

I'm still pissed about 21. The book said that they wouldn't accept white men into their club because they made casino owners suspicious. They were using the stereotypes about Asian men (weak, cowardly, nerds) to fuck the casinos over. AFAIC, it was a brilliant moment in Asian-American history. But, of course, no one would want to go watch a movie about that, so let's just cast some bland white dude.
