Not to downplay your fears, but I kinda think that's why this film looks like it will resonate. I hadn't heard of it till your secret and ran off to the trailer. It looks compelling, not a little due to the fact that it explores our fears and vulnerabilities (no longer being in control, not being able to determine reality, failure).

Creepy, deep psychological ballet does sound very interesting :) though I'm slightly disappointed my first thought that it was gonna be some dark fantasy tale or so turned out be incorrect...but I guess since they're performing a ballet, I guess it kind of is in a way? lol I dunno

A bit off topic but I hope this film doesn't disappoint me like The Wrestler did. I loved Requiem and The Fountain so...I'm looking forward to this. The Fountain made me face fears I was unaware of at the time and so...even if The Black Swan does freak you out...I hope you'll be okay.

At least you're aware of them now so that when/if you see the movie it won't affect you as heavily, in theory.

Why did "The Wrestler" disappoint you? Was it too "real?" Were the characters too complex, and did they develop too much? Bet you loved "Inception," then.

Thanks for assuming? It's not the case at all. I said that compared to his previous works it wasn't as great, I thought.

The characters, rather character, was a bit too predictable and his story didn't resonate with me like in Requiem or The Fountain. A underdog who fails at connecting with others ends up not gaining anything in the end? It seemed like a pointless story to me when he had a chance for redemption outside of the ring. *shrugs*

Inception was fun and I did love it but it doesn't have the depth that Aronofsky's works usually do, which is why I was disappointed by The Wrestler.

I know how you feel with many of these things...but really, I'd think "turning into a bird" would be worst of all, and that's sorta what it looks like, no? IDK, though. :P I don't know if you've seen a lot of his films, but It Got Worse is sort of his favorite trope.

This film scares the shit out of me already because of that last shot. I am terrified of goddamn birds, even if that goddamn bird is actually Natalie Portman, and I would be absolutely freaked the fuck out if I started turning into a bird, oh my god can you even imagine. Bleeeeeeeeeccccchhhhh.
