Dude, northern England. If you have a southern English accent, other kids will make you suffer for it for your entire childhood.

Yeah. If you're up north and you don't have a northern accent? We will give you side-eyes. It's a trait ingrained in us from birth.

Not that I can talk, being as how I'm from Cheshire. And actually enjoy accent diversity.

Yeah, for the reason not!OP gave, although equally bad were the snobby middle-class grown-ups who'd compliment me on it and tell me they'd sent their children to elocution lessons to make them sound like me, and get me to read out poetry in church and aakjshdjhdjkhdkjfhfjkghj. It doesn't help I don't do the wondering accent thing so many other people do. My accent's been completely fixed my entire life, and even consciously affecting a different accent does nothing.
