...I could say the same thing about, say, Cubism, and she ironically might snap at me for not knowing what "art" is when I see it.

(FYI, like both anime and modern art. Just using a style of modern art to make a point.)

She probably wouldn't, actually.
She doesn't care what other people like/dislike so long as they don't shove that opinion in her face.
Says she's content to hate what she hates and let others do the same, in places and to people suited for it. And so long as nobody's getting in anybody's face about it, why should it matter whether people hate something she likes or like something she hates (all of this was her words)?
