Don't wanna cause wank and IDEK who this guy is, but are you an artist? Do you draw? If the answer is no, do not complain about his style. Drawing is hard and not everyone is perfect at anatomy. If that's the way he draws, that's the way he draws.

Also, if you don't like it, don't look at it/read it.

haha i was waiting for this dumbshit "you can't do any better!" argument. Who cares. If I go to a restaurant and I'm served bad food, I can say it's bad without needing to earn my own michelin stars. If I see some bad art on the internet, I can say it's bad without needing to produce a fucking artistic masterpiece.

"It's my style!!" is the flimsy defense of the terrible internet artist. The guy may or may not be doing his best, but fact is he's been drawing this stuff for YEARS and hasn't really improved much. Doesn't necessarily mean his comic is bad or that he's a bad person, just that he kinda sucks at being an artist! Yeah ART IS HARD BOOHOO and not everyone's cut out for it, but posting your stuff on the internet means you are opening yourself up for criticism like the secret and the associated comments, and it's fine for people to voice their opinions!

yo, I'm the poster of the parent of this. You're right, that is a significant change (I didn't remember the art looking quite like that in the beginning, oops). I'm not sure it's in the right DIRECTION though. The characters still spend a fair bit of time stiffly standing in 3/4 poses and exchanging dialogue while their bodily proportions alter dramatically from panel to panel. Yeah it's not an action comic so I don't expect them to leap about doing acrobatics, and he does display some different body language on occasion (usually with hanners), it' s just... bland. The writing doesn't have the strength to portray his characters effectively either, so everyone comes across as samey.

I won't say the art is all bad, and the fact that he draws backgrounds consistently is commendable, but it is really let down by his scoliosis-ridden human art.

For SEVEN YEARS that's not all that impressive. Especially for someone drawing so much. And he still seems to lack even basic knowledge about anatomy despite drawing humans over and over. For someone with as much output as he has, he should be worlds better after 7 years.

Drawing is hard at any level but it is NOT hard to sit down and take a figure drawing class. It helps so much with confidence and risk. He has the money for classes so there is no excuse there. He could even visit resource sites online for free!

An artist should never ever settle or be content to take an easy way out, repeatedly. One of the major purposes of art, of writing, of life, is growth. He's doing himself and his fans a disservice by settling. For someone who's been drawing that comic for 7 odd years, this isn't leaps and bounds. Everyone learns at different speeds, true! But this is profession and he has put himself out there for examination, whether he requests or not.

OHAI. Secret OP here to say, YES, ACTUALLY, I DO DRAW. And while I'm not exactly a master of anatomy, I'm really working towards improving my skills.

I haven't drawn the same style as long as J. Jaques has because I tend to jump around a wholefuckinglot (as of writing, I can remember he's been drawing his characters in the current style for well over a year now but I could be wrong), but I can say that at least most of the humans I draw aren't posed as stiffly as his seem to be, and I am a little more versed in the physics of joints and, well, breasts.

But that isn't to say the man hasn't VASTLY improved in the years he's been making this comic.
