I'm a mild fan of Jhonen's stuff, but 90% of the fans (or just the most vocal ones?) are fucking awful. It just makes me respect the guy more knowing that he hates his fans and kind of hates his own work. He would probably hate the poster of this secret too.

Oh, gosh. I ADORE Invader Zim and you're right, whenever I watch it I get this strong urge to ship Dib and Zim, but I've made a few experimental forays into the fandom and the shipfic just feels so wrong to me. I don't even know why.

Coming from someone who spent a year or so in that fandom, it IS batshit, and if the BNFs are the same people they were years ago, they are kind of asshats. (Okay, LadyLaguna is nice, and so is Darqx. I think they're still playing in the IZ sandbox?)
