Yeah, Meyer really seems to underestimate her audience's imagination or ambition or what-have-you. It's kind of like that movie where Jim Carrey is God and all he does is give his girlfriend bigger boobs and teach his dog how to use the toilet.

Well, considering Bruce was supposed to be an average guy, with...typical desires/wishes for an average guy, I guess(yes I know I'm horribly generalising here, I'm only referring to the character in the movie), he didn't really think "big" so to speak. He was definitley no Light(Uber smart magnificent bastard who gets ahold of a book that lets him kill people, and starts growing a God complex because of this. Series name is Death Note, in case you're not familiar with the canon). Like, what would the average person do if they suddenly got God-like powers?

That makes sense. Not to mention that it'd be a bit overwhelming, being made God all of a sudden. And it's not supposed to be taken too seriously, either.
