I'll stay anon for this, but I think I get where you're coming from. I'll write stories that verge on just this side of badfic because I've got a major H/C kink and nothing inspires me to write more than H/C.

So yeah, I'll write a character being abused by a domestic partner or by his parents (and it is always a "his" in my case as well) just to get my motor running again and then I'll go back to writing my other stuff. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

If your well of inspiration runs dry wait until it fills up again. Adding something "dramatic" just to spice things up when it wasn't intended to be present in the first place is often very distracting and annoying. Especially if it comes out of friggin' nowhere.
