So, Jade knows that it's not fomicry, but his taking bodies off the battlefield was what earned him the name, which he uses himself a total of twice in the game (once early in the game, on-board the Tartarus, to command the emergency shutdown, and again during one of his Mystic Artes . . . I think it's Indignation). It's the same reason why Dist is called "the Reaper," because he did similar things.

However . . .
I think the real catalyst for the plot wasn't just Jade's past, but rather, the Hod war. I've thought about it a lot, and I think that the entire plan was set in motion due to the destruction of Hod. I mean, if Hod had never been destroyed, these changes probably would have taken place:
--Van and Tear would have grown up as happy, normal children; Van would have never developed his hatred of the Score, neither of them would have ever gone down to the Qliphoth, and Tear would have never joined the Oracle Knights
--Guy's family would have all still been alive, so Guy would have never gone to Kimlasca, would have never moved into the Fabre manor, and would have never met Luke (the original) or Natalia
--The Hod war was what screwed over Feres Island; thus, Arietta would have never lost her family, and she would have thus never been raised by monsters. Likely as not she would have never joined the Oracle Knights either
--Since Van would have grown up relatively normal, he would have never had a reason to kidnap the original Luke fon Fabre, a.k.a. Mr. Perma-Scowl, a.k.a. Asch. Thus, the "foolish replica" Luke that we all know and love would have never been born
--Since Eugenie Cecille wouldn't have had a reason to turn traitor to Kimlasca, the Cecille noble family would have never fallen into disgrace, and thus General Cecille (I forget her first name at the moment) would have never had to do . . . unsavory things to become a general in the family to restore honor to the Cecille family name. Actually, she may have never joined the military at all, which means that she may have never met General Frings
--A lot of the fomicry experiments that led to perfecting fomicry were carried out in Hod and during the Hod war. If none of that ever happened, chances are fomicry wouldn't have been perfected, which means that there's a possibility (though not a definite one) that they would have never created the seven replica Ions to replace the first Fon Master . . . meaning that the first Fon Master's death may have been made public
--If there was no replica Ion, then Anise would have never achieved her rank as a Fon Master Guardian; it's possible that Mohs would have had no reason to manipulate her, and thus her parents may have gone free that much sooner
And there are probably other changes as well that I just can't think of right now. We probably would have seen a great change in the Oracle Knights, though -- for sure Arietta wouldn't be one, and Legretta probably wouldn't be either as she wouldn't have her original motivator (vengeance against Van). If he wasn't created yet, then obviously Sync couldn't be one. And then again, Van's the one who recruited all of those God-Generals, so since he wouldn't be recruiting in the first place, perhaps none of them would have achieved their positions at all.
But yeah, I think the biggest thing here is that if Van hadn't been set against the Score due to all that happened during the destruction of Hod, Luke would have never been born, because he wouldn't have kidnapped the original, and that alone just sets off a pretty big turning point in the game's plot. (I still think that Akzeriuth would still end up falling though, because it was always supposed to be Asch who destroyed it from the start, and everyone in Kimlasca knew this (well, the Duke and King Ingobert, anyway); so it would just be Asch nuking Akzeriuth instead of Luke).
Nonetheless, Jade IS a badass, I do agree. =)
