Since submitting this, I got up my nerve... It was pretty great. :)

If anyone else is in the same boat as me, I recommend going for it! The fandom is way, way friendlier than I expected from its size.

AWESOME. Welcome to the fandom! :-) I agree, it is a really nice, friendly group of people. I was slightly late to the party, too - didn't see the movie until it had already been out for three weeks, and didn't get involved in the fandom until the following week, but I'm having a ton of fun now that I'm in it. I started with inception100, which I thought was a good, non-intimidating place to start.
