We're not all like that :( I know that when I talk about them, it's to make fun of them, despite the fact that they're my favourite band.
And believe it or not, it is possible to listen to a band without having any involvement with the fans.

You can listen to a band and ignore their fans. It is definitely possible. Especially when it is a band that is not incredibly popular in the first place.

I never noticed the Manics fans being especially irritating.
Personally, I never got into them because the music never interested me that much. But I would love to see a well done biopic about them, because interesting story there.

In a perfect world, the sane fans for all of our fandoms would be conveniently located in a single place, shutting out all others. They may not be on LJ. They may not be in your community. That doesn't mean they aren't out there, and if the Manics fans I know are any indication, it's no reason to deprive yourself.
