It's a lovely song that describes a common feeling very well, no shame in loving it.

Most Mulan secrets are about I'll Make A Man Out Of You which I love very much but Reflection will always be my favourite because it's very relatable and honest.
Don't be ashamed of liking it, OP. It's a kickass song.

I've always loved Mulan and Reflection is my favorite song.

When I was younger I always interpreted it for myself, as being gay and having to hide it for fear of disappointing or being rejected by your family.

I love this song so much because it really can stand for just about EVERYTHING, so everyone can relate. It's one of Disney's greatest songs, IMHO.

I related to the song a lot for similar reasons, so this song will always get me a little because it takes me back to that period.

I will never, ever, EVER be able to think of that song in any context other than being sung by an FTM. I can't interpret "who is that girl I see ... when will my reflection show/ who I am inside?" as anything else.

S!B Most people think of Mulan as a cisgender girl who crossdresses for freedom, not a gay man.

This is me as well anon. Don't feel bad about feeling inspired by children's movies. Simple messages turn out to mean so much more the older you get. Also, Mulan's sing-a-long music was all beautifully awesome.
