I just think the additions don't bring anything new or relevant to the story, they just make it too long and confusing, and less allegorical. Some of it is also too banal for my taste. I much prefer the subtlety of the original.

BUT I like the fact that it was released, just because it's interesting to compare the two! I just really really prefer the original.

You know, after seeing the Redux version a couple times on my cousin's borrowed copy, I bought a DVD release that has both versions (both split across two separate fucking discs rather than, you know, one per disc, WHY?) It's been like 3 years and I still have never seen the original version. I just love the Redux version way too much.

What an interesting situation! Well, I hope you get around to watching it some day. Not that I'm expecting you'll suddenly fall in love with the original or something, but hey, maybe you'll get a kick out of seeing a different version of the old story.
