I was never sold on Spock/Uhura tbh, and IA with Mr. Plinkett that it was added for the sake of the Not!Gay lolol

That said, though, I really love both versions of Uhura and don't necessarily believe Uhura 2.0 wasn't complete without a man so much as the romance was rather clunkily and unconvincingly conveyed

That was the only downside to the movie for me. There was no build-up, just a kind of "Oh, they're together btw". The chemistry just wasn't there and it made it seem forced.

I have to say I don't see it in the original series either. But I like it just fine in the movie. (Then again, I'm the kind of person who will read any ship pretty happily if the writer's done a half decent job, so it probably doesn't matter in the least!)

I don't buy Spock/Uhura in either universe, but I suspect that's because I ship them both with other people and they seem weird together.

But yeah, Uhura is fierce in both universes without a man.
