Well... in a way I could see it is OP trying to find out which religion is the 'correct' (or closest to correct) one. After all, the great divine force that guides everything in the universe should probably be capable of manipulating events in such a way that OP meets the person corresponding with the correct religion. That way, OP will ending up following the truth, rather than whatever she thinks ought to be the truth.

Then again, from what little I know of him, I think the Buddha does not roll that way, so I could be wrong.

But isn't a big part if religion based on faith in that religion? If you're (general you) waiting around for proof, I think you're kind of missing a big point.

True. But then again, God supposedly does reveal Himself to people all the time. He answers prayers whenever He feels like it. His face shows up on toast. He saves planes landing on rivers and makes vines grow into the shape of Jesus on telephone poles. And anyway, it not really a religion, it's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (according to some Christians).

It's one of the curious things about religion. Faith is one of the greatest virtues, yet anything that even hints at possible being evidence of/vindication for their beliefs is jumped upon enthusiastically. It's almost like they're aware of the notion that believing something to be true without having any proof for it is simple gullibility.
