She is MEANT to be a sympathetic character to some extent though. And most of the trolls are a bit 'evil' too - I mean even cute Nepeta supposedly murders other kids' lusii :T

Hahahaha I agree! I love it when people say that Aradia's beatdown was too much. Look at the shit Vriska did. Vriska's a great character, but she's deserved everything thrown at her.

b-b-b-b-but all she did WAS cripple and murder people, she didn't deserve that vicious beatdown!!!!!!!!

but no seriously I love Vriska, she's my favorite character and I am still uneasy about that fight. she DID kill Aradia, but is Aradia any better for seeking out her revenge in such a bloody fashion? Vriska did try to make amends by having Equius make her her robot body, although that didn't exactly workout so well for Vriska.

not to mention that Aradia's beatdown actually worked out in benefit for Vriska, waking up her dream self and returning her vision eightfold and real arm

I have a hard time believing she tried to make amends for any other reason than she thought it would break her run of bad luck. If she had found another way to get on top of the game, if she hadn't been knocked to the bottom of the pile, I really, really doubt she would've been concerned with how she hurt the people around her. (Maaaybe with the exception of Tavros, considering)

Aradia is way better than Vriska. This doesn't just go down to "an eye for an eye," this goes beyond just "you killed me, so I killed you." We can look at their collective actions and personalities and make value judgments.

Vriska: crippled Tavros, crippled Terezi, murdered Aradia.

She was just fine with these actions. She had no moral objections to any of them.

Aradia: Wanted to hurt Vriska in retaliation for the above actions.

Troll mentality and world structure is different from our own but we're shown over and over again that even to them Vriska is a douchebag. In a land of douchebags, Vriska is the queen douchebag.

The best thing about all of Vriska's douchebaggery is that she pretty much ends up only trolling herself with her actions. Terezi gets to have cool scent/taste powers, Tavros never gets angry and gets badass robo-legs, and Aradia is just 0k with things until she gets her robot body. Vriska gets haunted, loses her vision eightfold and gains nothing in return, gets told by Karkat that nobody even really cares about her attempted evildoings, and then gets beaten up. She's a terrible villain! Guess it's her shitty luck, huh :V
